Spring 2018 Wednesday morning Central Park bird walks

This spring the Museum changed the time of my Wednesday morning Central Park bird walks from 7:00 - 9:00 am to 9:00 to 11:00 am. On most of the Wednesday mornings I scouted the Ramble from about 7:00 until 8:45 am before going to meet the group for the official starting time of 9:00 am. A number of my participants joined me on these early scouting walks and in my weekly lists I give lists of the birds seen on the scouts that were not seen on the regular walk. The following list is the cumulative bird list for birds recorded on the official walks from 9:00 to 11:00 am. A total of 85 species were recorded. Among the highlights was a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (the first I have seen in Central Park), a Barn Owl that stayed for over a week, a singing Bicknell's Thrush, and 19 warblers. As always, not everyone saw every bird, but I think nearly everyone saw all the good birds.
